Bavaria rumbles into crisis! Home disaster against Gladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach has finally plunged the totally insecure FC Bayern into the autumn crisis. The German record champion lost on Saturday evening in the Bundesliga classic with 0:3 (0:2) after the next mistake. After the fourth consecutive compulsory match without a win and only fifth place in the table, coach Niko Kovac will take a restless international break before the end of the first 100 days at the Bayern-Amt.

Borussia, led by Lars Stindl, took advantage of the general uncertainty in Munich. Goalscorer Alassane Plea with his fifth goal of the season (10th minute) and captain Stindl (16th) at his remarkable league comeback after a serious foot injury decided the game early with a double strike. Shortly before the end, substitute Patrick Herrmann (88th) made for an even worse mood among Bayern fans.

The Munichers favoured the first two goals with bad individual mistakes by Niklas Süle and Thiago respectively. After a long time, the Bayern fans whistled out their favourites again in the Munich Arena, which was sold out with 75,000 spectators.

The Bavarians started determined, the ball went well. But the opening melancholy went up in smoke. The Gladbachers pressed a lot, with Stindl as hanging top in the center, coach Dieter Hecking had a good idea. But the 0:1 started with an unnecessarily lost duel of Süle at the midline. After a double pass with Jonas Hofmann, Plea placed the ball wonderfully in the long corner during his shot.

Before the Bavarians had recovered from the moment of shock, it was 0:2. Thiago took a rebound from Manuel Neuer too casually. Stindl punished the loss of the ball with an equally fine flat shot. Another long-range shot of the good Plea rallied past the goal (23.).

The Bavarians tried to react. Arjen Robben bounced the ball in the penalty area (32.). Robert Lewandowski aimed from the turn exactly at goalkeeper Yann Sommer (35.). Kovac reacted to the break, took out the ineffective seals and Thomas Müller. He brought Franck Ribéry and Serge Gnabry as wing tongs. After an injury of David Alaba he had to rebuild further: Joshua Kimmich had to change to the left defensive side, Leon Goretzka took over for him right behind.

Bayern had the ball, but hardly any ideas. Gladbach defended compactly, the Munich team wanted to force the goal. James tried it spectacularly with a side puller (63.). Lewandowski flew past a flank of Gnabry (65.). Lewandowski was apt to stand on the sidelines at his goal, as the video assistant confirmed to the referee (67th).

Florian Neuhaus could not finish one of the rare Gladbach counterattacks for 0:3 (71.). Kovac stood gesticulating at the side line. His desperately fighting eleven, however, missed a turnaround – on the contrary. Herrmann sealed the bitter home defeat. BVB madness! Dortmund celebrates Triple Paco & Götze fairy tale

Triple packer Paco Alcaver and Mario Götze have saved Borussia Dortmund’s lead in the Bundesliga. The 2014 World Cup hero scored in the 84th minute, seven minutes after his substitution, to the interim 3:2 against FC Augsburg. In the sixth minute of injury time, Spanish newcomer Alcacer scored a free-kick 4-3 (0-1) against FCA.

Alfred Finnbogason (22.) and Philipp Max (71.) had taken the lead twice. Joker Paco Alcacer (62./80.) could equalize twice and scored to the victory for the black-yellow. Michael Gregoritsch (87.) compensated for the Augsburg after Mario Götzes goal. Even in the tenth compulsory game under coach Lucien Favre, the Borussians remained undefeated and the leaders in the Bundesliga.

Favre changed his team in contrast to the Champions League game against AS Monaco (3:0) on four positions. Among others, Maximilian Philipp replaced the Spaniard Alcacer in the storm.

Mario Götze returned to the BVB squad after four games, but like his brother Felix, who was six years younger, he only sat on the bench at FCA for the time being. But in the 77th minute, the 2014 World Cup hero was substituted and thus made his first appearance in the league this season.

The guests, who recently attracted attention with a point win in Munich and a sovereign home win against Freiburg, acted courageously from the beginning in front of 81,365 spectators. After three minutes, the Augsburg team had already earned three corners.

A standard situation also led to a not undeserved lead. Max’s free-kick flank fell to Finnbogason’s feet, who scored his fourth goal of the season from close range. At his season debut last week, the Icelander had already shone with a triple pack in a 4-1 draw against Freiburg.

The Dortmund game lacked precision in the first half, often wrong decisions were made. Nevertheless, the BVB had chances. Marco Reus shot over (15th), Achraf Hakimi (24th) and Maximilian Philipp (34th) failed against good FCA goalkeeper Andreas Luthe.

Augsburg did not hide with the lead in their back at the beginning of the second run. Goalkeeper Roman Bürki prevented Michael Gregoritsch and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw from being higher behind (both 49th).

The lack of freshness was noticeable to the BVB after the last high loads. Favre reacted and brought Alcacer after one hour for the inconspicuous Philipp – with success. Alcacer scored his fourth goal of the season shortly after his substitution after a nice pass from Jadon Sancho and added a second goal. Then Mario Götze and Alcacer scored again. It was the already 13th compulsory goal of a Joker for the BVB in this season.

Augsburg would have given an answer almost immediately. But Finnbogason only hit the crossbar (63rd) before Max scored the FCA lead again. In the turbulent final phase the BVB took the lead for the first time, but Gregoritsch scored 3:3. But then Alcacer came again. Check out BetUK for more details.

McKennie and Burgstaller crown perfect Schalker week

Schalke 04 rolls up the field in the Bundesliga from behind. The runners-up celebrated their third consecutive victory in the compulsory game and their second trio in the championship with 2:0 (0:0) in Fortuna Düsseldorf, which brought the club to the lower midfield. The hosts, for their part, conceded their third defeat in a row and dropped back to a relegation rank behind Schalke.

Weston McKennie (47th) and Guido Burgstaller (53rd) with their first goals of the season each made the first away victory of the royal blues in the league perfect. The black series of Fortuna coach Friedhelm Funkel, who hasn’t been able to win against Schalke for 21 years as a coach, also held up.

In front of 52,000 spectators in the Merkur Spiel-Arena, which was sold out for the first time this season, an intense, but partly also distorted game developed right from the start. The visitors already had a good chance in the second minute through Naldo. Three minutes later Benito Raman then missed a hundred per cent chance for the brisk promoted player when he freely missed the goal by a hair’s breadth ahead of Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann.

Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco had surprisingly renounced striker Mark Uth in his starting line-up for the basement duel, who had been nominated the day before for the first time by national coach Joachim Löw for the upcoming international games in the Nations Leauge in the Netherlands and in France. The 04 coach made a total of four changes in comparison to the 1-0 in the Champions League at Lokomotive Moscow last Wednesday. Also Sebastian Rudy, the newcomer who was considered by Löw again, only sat on the bench at the kick-off whistle.

However, the personnel measures had no positive effect at first. Schalke was not able to concentrate in the first round, especially in the game structure, and the defence did not seem to be particularly firm in the saddle.

After half an hour, Tedesco raved on the sidelines for the first time because he was obviously not satisfied with his team’s performance, which was marked by many mistakes. A minute later, he saw a mistake by his shaky defensive lead to another Fortuna opportunity by Jean Zimmer. On the other side, Franco Di Santo still had a chance. In the second half Schalke showed a completely different face. Weston McKennie, who had scored the winning goal for Schalke in the premier class in Moscow three days before, finished the first attack of the visitors after the break with 1-0. Only five minutes later, Guido Burgstaller, the last goalscorer to be prevented, was on the spot and nothing had been seen of him until then. Fortuna struggled in the following time, could not recover however in the long run from the double strike any more, although Alfredo Morales in the 70. minute with a volley shot provided once more for danger.
