With growing concerns over global warming, effects of heat islands, and associated micro-climate changes, it is important to document the current status of urban forest canopy and monitor the canopy cover over time. The Urban Forestry Product is designed to provide a geo-spatial location of tree canopy cover in a given area of interest and through change detection techniques, allow the end user to monitor the changes over a period of time. The Urban Forestry Product can be used to map current status, develop plans to plant new trees, monitor progress, and be used as a component for tree canopy regulations for new developments.
