Borussia Mönchengladbach has finally plunged the totally insecure FC Bayern into the autumn crisis. The German record champion lost on Saturday evening in the Bundesliga classic with 0:3 (0:2) after the next mistake. After the fourth consecutive compulsory match without a win and only fifth place in the table, coach Niko Kovac will take a restless international break before the end of the first 100 days at the Bayern-Amt.

Borussia, led by Lars Stindl, took advantage of the general uncertainty in Munich. Goalscorer Alassane Plea with his fifth goal of the season (10th minute) and captain Stindl (16th) at his remarkable league comeback after a serious foot injury decided the game early with a double strike. Shortly before the end, substitute Patrick Herrmann (88th) made for an even worse mood among Bayern fans.

The Munichers favoured the first two goals with bad individual mistakes by Niklas Süle and Thiago respectively. After a long time, the Bayern fans whistled out their favourites again in the Munich Arena, which was sold out with 75,000 spectators.

The Bavarians started determined, the ball went well. But the opening melancholy went up in smoke. The Gladbachers pressed a lot, with Stindl as hanging top in the center, coach Dieter Hecking had a good idea. But the 0:1 started with an unnecessarily lost duel of Süle at the midline. After a double pass with Jonas Hofmann, Plea placed the ball wonderfully in the long corner during his shot.

Before the Bavarians had recovered from the moment of shock, it was 0:2. Thiago took a rebound from Manuel Neuer too casually. Stindl punished the loss of the ball with an equally fine flat shot. Another long-range shot of the good Plea rallied past the goal (23.).

The Bavarians tried to react. Arjen Robben bounced the ball in the penalty area (32.). Robert Lewandowski aimed from the turn exactly at goalkeeper Yann Sommer (35.). Kovac reacted to the break, took out the ineffective seals and Thomas Müller. He brought Franck Ribéry and Serge Gnabry as wing tongs. After an injury of David Alaba he had to rebuild further: Joshua Kimmich had to change to the left defensive side, Leon Goretzka took over for him right behind.

Bayern had the ball, but hardly any ideas. Gladbach defended compactly, the Munich team wanted to force the goal. James tried it spectacularly with a side puller (63.). Lewandowski flew past a flank of Gnabry (65.). Lewandowski was apt to stand on the sidelines at his goal, as the video assistant confirmed to the referee (67th).

Florian Neuhaus could not finish one of the rare Gladbach counterattacks for 0:3 (71.). Kovac stood gesticulating at the side line. His desperately fighting eleven, however, missed a turnaround – on the contrary. Herrmann sealed the bitter home defeat.
